Control Room Technician

The control room technician reports to the shift charge engineer and is responsible for the control room.

Personal requirements of a control room technician may include:

Control room technicians may complete the following tasks:

  • Control of active and reactive power, voltage, current and temperature according to the setting
  • Run up, shut down, lead, or synchronise turbine generator units as required
  • To monitor and record meter and instrument readings in the control room and other equipment
  • Perform all switching that can be done form the control room
  • In case of a system disturbance, normalisation of the system through safe and accepted switching procedures
  • Record and control indications and alarms
  • Maintenance of control room logbook
  • Monitor, report and observe alarms, trips, faults and other abnormalities¬†
