Operations Superintendent

Operations Superintendents are responsible for the supervision of all staff involved in contract operations, mining operations and associated contractors on site to achieve planned targets within quality, cost, safety and environmental requirements.

Operations Superintendents may complete the following tasks:

  • Oversee the open pit mining functions to ensure that equipment utilisation and production targets are achieved in a cost effective, timely and safe manner
  • Assist with the development of mine production operating and capital cost budgets
  • Ensure cost control and adherence to contractual requirements by effective supervision of contracts
  • Manage contractors, suppliers and service providers
  • Liaise with mine technical services and processing teams to ensure tonnes and grade targets are met to achieve production targets
  • Ensure progressive waste dump development and rehabilitation
  • Ensure mining personnel are working within guidelines of relevant statutory requirements and policies and procedures¬†
  • Review mining methods and implement optimisation programs where appropriate
  • Monitor production results on a progressive basis and prepare periodic progress and variance reports
  • Continuous mine improvement
  • Manage performance appraisals and HR issues
  • Comply with all Safety requirements

Previous number of relevant years experience in a similar position is required for this role.
