Electronics Technician - Special Class, Hazardous Areas supervise selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and testing explosion-protected systems and equipment.

Electronics Technician - Special Class, Hazardous Areas may complete the following tasks:

  • Implement and monitor OHS policies and procedures
  • Compile and produce reports
  • Verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations
  • Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems
  • Maintain documentation
  • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs
  • Provide quotations for installation or service jobs
  • Deliver service to customers
  • Use basic computer applications relevant to a workplace
  • Comply with scheduled and preventative maintenance program processes
  • Provide basic instruction in the use of electrotechnology apparatus
  • Implement & monitor, policies & procedures for environmentally sustainable electrotechnology work practice

This job requires the completion of a traineeship or apprenticeship in Electrotechnology. Further study usually at Certificate level is also required (e.g. Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas).
