Armature Winder

Armature Winders (electrical motor winding tradesperson) apply electrical knowledge to make, fit or repair electrical machines or appliances.

Personal requirements of an Armature Winder may include:

Armature Winders may complete the following tasks:

  • Apply OHS practices in the workplace
  • Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electrotechnology components
  • Solve problems in extra-low voltage single path circuits
  • Solve problems in multiple path D.C circuits
  • Using drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals
  • Document occupational hazards and risks in electro technology
  • Participate in development and follow personal competency development plan
  • Winding coils
  • Place and connect coils
  • Maintain documentation
  • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs
  • Receive and store materials and equipment for electro technology work
  • Deliver a service to customers
  • Use basic computer applications relevant to a workplace
  • Provide basic information in the use of electro technology apparatus
  • Carry out basic repairs to electrical apparatus

This job requires a qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Electrical Machine Repair) through an electrical traineeship or apprenticeship.
