Electrical Technology Senior Technical Officer

Electrical Technology Senior Technical Officers design and validate/evaluate electrical equipment and systems and provide technical advice/sales.

Electrical Technology Senior Technical Officers may complete the following tasks:

  • Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electrotechnology components
  • Solve problems in extra-low voltage single path circuits
  • Solve problems in multiple path d.c. circuits
  • Fix and secure equipment
  • Use drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals
  • Lay wiring/cabling and terminate accessories for extra-low voltage circuits
  • Document occupational hazards and risks in electrical
  • Identify effects of energy on machinery and materials in an electrotechnology environment
  • Undertake computations in an electrotechnology environment
  • Solve problems in electromagnetic circuits
  • Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage circuits
  • Provide computational solutions to power engineering problems
  • Solve problems in complex multiple path power circuits
  • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs
  • Provide quotations for installation or service jobs
  • Deliver a service to customers
  • Use basic computer applications relevant to a workplace
  • Provide basic instruction in the use of electrotechnology apparatus
  • Manage workplace information systems
  • Ensure team effectiveness
  • Solve problems in complex polyphase power circuits

Entry requirements may vary but most employers require Year 10 and some may prefer Year 12. Experience required includes an electrical apprenticeship or traineeship and qualification (e.g. Advanced Diploma of Electrical - Technology) plus relevant years of on-the-job experience as this is a senior role.
