Data and Voice Communications Cablers select, assemble, set up and maintain simple equipment and systems to a routine Certification of telecommunication cabling in buildings and premises.

Data and Voice Communications Cablers may complete the following tasks:

  • Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electrotechnology components
  • Solve problems in extra-low voltage single path circuits
  • Solve problems in multiple path d.c. circuits
  • Fix and secure equipment
  • Use drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals
  • Lay wiring and terminate accessories for extra-low voltage circuits
  • Lay and connect cables for multiple access to telecommunication services
  • Maintain documentation
  • Source and purchase material/parts for installation or service jobs
  • Receive and store materials and equipment for electrotechnology work
  • Deliver a service to customers
  • Provide basic instruction in the use of electrotechnology apparatus

This position requires the completion of a trade qualification in Data and Voice Communications plus on-the-job experience.
