Radio Frequency Services Field Service Technician

Field Service Technicians (radio frequency services) are responsible for installation of a wide range of digital reception equipment and products on either enterprise or customer premises under a wide range of circumstances. They assess installation requirements, plan and perform installations, test installed equipment, fault find and perform alterations on a wide range of digital reception services.

Personal requirements of a Radio Field Services Technician may include:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Problem solving and fault finding
  • Manual dexterity
  • Willingness to travel

Field Service Technicians may complete the following tasks:

  • Install a cable lead in
  • Install a satellite antenna
  • Install a terrestrial antenna
  • Locate and identify cable system faults
  • Alter services to existing cable system
  • Conduct radio frequency measurements
  • Integrate data delivery modes
  • Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule

This occupation often requires a trade certificate in Telecommunications Digital Reception Technology and/or on-the-job experience.
